Funeral services for Mr. Claude Laton Boles, 68, of Cookeville, were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2000, from the chapel of the Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville with Bros. Eddie Turner and Bobby Davis officiating. Burial was in the Bolestown Cemetery in Pickett County with Whitson Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Boles, a retired Tech Sergeant in the United States Air Force, died Wednesday, November 8, 2000, at his home.

Born in Pickett County, he was the son of the late John Sherman Boles Sr. and Alta Mae (Shewmake) Boles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.

He was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God, a member of the National Rifle Association, and a Scottish Rites Body Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Marie (Gattis) Boles, Cookeville; a stepdaughter, Patty Ann King, California; a stepson, James Michael Hayslip, California; seven brothers, Morse Boles and Marce Boles, both of Michigan, John Sherman Boles Jr., Alabama, Victor V. Boles, Goodlettsville, Kenneth O. Boles, Livingston, Bryce Boles, Algood, and Harold Boles, Virginia; three sisters, Jemima Joseph, Clarksville, Geraldine Saad, Michigan, and Patricia Hoffmann, Missouri; and two step-grandchildren, Scott and Stephen Hayslip, California.
