Mrs. Helen Mae Button Giebell, age 90, widow of Floyd George Giebell, Jr., of Laurelwood Drive, Wilkesboro, died, Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Giebell was born June 30, 1916 in Allegany County, New York to Alonzo and Amelia Dowell Button. She earned a B.S. in education from Alfred University in New York. Mrs. Giebell taught school for many years before retiring. She was preceded in death by a son, Sergeant Floyd Stephen Giebell, who was killed in Vietnam (1969).

Surviving are one daughter, Sterling Ann Tomnlin of Wilkesboro; one grandson, LCDR Stephen Tomlin and wife, Kim of Florida; two granddaughters, Andrea Kieffer of Texas, Deidre Stone and husband Mike of Millers Creek; and six great grandsons, Christopher, Christian, Micah, Joshua, Daniel and Adam.
