George Juanita Sams Caylor was born July 27, 1923 in rural Lucas County to George Landis Sams and Rosetta Klages Sams and passed away on June 19, 2011 at the age of 87, at the Circle of Life-Legacy Lodge Hospice in Chariton, Iowa.
On February 3, 1940, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Ward Caylor. To this union, one son, Butch, was born.
Georgene was raised on a small farm in Liberty township in Lucas County and attended rural schools, moving to Chariton after her marriage in 1940. She was employed at the Gross-Galesburg pants factory in Chariton for several years, and was the bookkeeper when she and Kenneth operated the DX station and Standard station for several years. She was an excellent cook and always baked the greatest meringue pies and was the best at frying chicken for a noon meal. Always being very independent, she lived in and maintained her own home up until recently entering Legacy Lodge. She took great pride in keeping the yard meticulous, mowing her own lawn and raking the leaves herself, and being able to fix almost anything that was broken.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth, sisters, Margaret Pennington and Beulah Caylor, infant brother, Gerald Lester and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Earl Caylor, Forest & Nina Caylor, John & Rose Caylor, Adam & Beatrice Caylor, Clell & Margaret Caylor and Chet Caylor.
She is survived by her son, Butch (Margaret) Caylor; granddaughter Tammy (Bobby) Jeanes, and two great grandchildren, Trenton and Tacy Jeanes; brother-in-law, Lewis Pennington; nieces and nephews and many friends.
Her family was always a very important part of her life, and she was a very devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
