U.S. Congressman. He attended Deerfield Academy, graduated from the medical department of the University of the City of New York, in 1890 and commenced the practice of medicine in Willington, Connecticut, in 1891. He served in the Connecticut State House of Representatives, (1905-07, 17, 19-21, 25, 27) and a member of the Connecticut State Senate, (1909-11). He also was first selectman of Coventry, Connecticut, (1917-32), Tolland County Commissioner, (1921-32) and Connecticut Secretary of State, (1928-32). In 1933, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-third and Seventy-fourth Congresses, serving until 1937. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of medicine until his death.
