Indian Campaigns Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army in Company C, 9th United States Cavalry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action at Las Animas Canyon, New Mexico on September 18, 1879. His citation reads "Removed a wounded comrade, under a heavy fire, to a place of safety."
