Penelope Simms Turner was living with her daughter Amanda Elizabeth Turner Copeland and her son in law Thomas Copeland in 1880 in Carroll County Georgia per recorded in the census of that year. Penelope was the daughter of Robert Simms III and Sarah Dickinson early settlers of Georgia.
Penelope's grandfather was John Dickinson born in North Carolina and a very early settler in Hancock Georgia. This John Dickinson was the 2nd great grandson of the John Dickinson who married as his 2nd wife Elizabeth Howland (the daughter of Elizabeth Tilley and John Howland of the Mayflower).
Penelope's mother Sarah Dickinson had a chapter of the DAR in Coweta County Georgia named after her.
