Woodrow W. Koontz, of Gettysburg, died June 20, 2011.
He was born in Idaville on October 15, 1916, son of the late George and Margaret (Heller) Koontz. His wife, the late Pauline (Blocher) Koontz, died May 23, 1999.
Mr. Koontz was a life member of the Idaville United Methodist Church. He helped construct the church at its current location.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U. S. Army Air Corp in the China, Burma and India Theater.
Mr. Koontz was retired from Wolff Farm Supply in Biglerville, where he served as the Parts Department Manager; earlier in his career he was employed by Gettysburg Motors in the Parts Department. He was a member of the York Springs Senior Citizens.
He is survived by his children, Sandra L. Singley and husband Kerm of Gettysburg, Douglas W. Koontz and wife Lynn of Southport, NC, and Roger D. Koontz and wife Judy of Harrisburg; six granddaughters, Andrea Singley, Laura Koontz, Jennifer Koontz, Valerie Koontz, Melissa Koontz and Janelle Koontz; and a brother, Russell Koontz and wife Ruby of Biglerville.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Anna Blumberg, Carrie Dull, Mildred Adlesberger, June Miller, Paul, Ralph and Roy Koontz.
Funeral services will be held June 25, at 11 a.m. at the Idaville United Methodist Church, Gardners, with Pastor Robert Hartz officiating. Interment will be in the Idaville Cemetery.
