Frances S. Canterbury (nee Wilson), 84, of Elyria died Friday at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain following a brief illness. She was born March 4, 1926 in Metalton, West Virginia and was a resident of the Elyria area for most of her life.

Frances was a member of the Midway Baptist Church in Elyria and enjoyed gardening and sewing.

Survivors include her daughter, Diane Maskell of Elyria; son, Roger Canterbury of Grafton; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Opal McGinnis of Brook Park and Clarice Browning, of Beckley, West Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos in 1990; daughter, Cheryl Canterbury in 1999; son, Gary Canterbury in 2009; sister, Ora Milan and James Wilson.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 7, 2010 from 5 to 7 P.M. at Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd., at State Rt. 57, Elyria. 440-322-4626. Services will be Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 11 A.M. in the funeral home. The Rev. Charles Keesee, pastor of Midway Baptist Church will Officiate. Burial will be at Butternut Ridge Cemetery, Eaton Twp.
