US Congressman, New Jersey Governor. He graduated from St. Joseph’s College, in 1933, Rutgers Law School, in 1937 and was a special agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, (1937-38). He was admitted to the bar in 1939, practiced of law in Camden, New Jersey and was city prosecutor of Camden, (1944-45). He also was special deputy attorney general of the State of New Jersey, in 1951 and a member of the New Jersey General Assembly, (1951-53). In 1959, he was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-sixth Congress and to the next five succeeding Congresses, serving until his resignation in 1970. In 1970, he was elected as a Republican the 46th Governor of New Jersey, serving until 1974. After his term, he was a senior fellow of Princeton University, (1974-78) and practiced of law.
