BROODING OVER HEALTH, HENRY RUSSELL COMMITS SUICIDE: SWALLOWS ACID-

Believed to have been temporarily deranged, Henry Russell, sixty-eight, widely known citizen of Decatur, ended his life here shortly after 8 o'clock this morning by swallowing a quantity of carbolic acid.

For some time Mr. Russell had appeared depressed, apparently worrying over his continued ill health and financial affairs. He made his home over the Albany Drug company on the corner of Moulton Street and Second Avenue.

Leaving his home this morning, Mr. Russell is believed to have procured the poison at a local drug store and had walked to a point on First Avenue just north of Moulton Street when he was seen to raise a small vial to his lips and drink.

Almost immediately he staggered across First Avenue into the office of J.M. Clark & Son, local feed dealers, where he had been in the habit of going to chat with Mr. Clark and those who congregated there.

Entering the office door Mr. Russell collapsed, falling across a sofa in the office. It was seen that he was seriously ill and medical aid was immediately summoned. By the time Dr. A.M. Roan reached him he was sinking rapidly and Brown's ambulance was summoned to take him to the Benevolent Hospital but he died enroute.

The body was later taken to the parlors of the Brown Funeral Company where it was prepared for burial. It was said this afternoon that while interment will be made tomorrow, definite funeral plans had not been completed.

Mr. Russell is survived by his wife, Fannie, and five daughters, Mrs. Will Priest, Mrs. Ben Hill, Mrs. Lovely Henson, Mrs. John Sharp and Mrs. Tom Jones.
