Mr. Morgan passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2011, in Tyler.
He was born on August 15, 1923, in Marlow, Oklahoma, to the late William P. and Sarah E. Nevins Morgan. Mr. Morgan graduated from Oklahoma State University and was employed for 36 years by Mobil Oil Co. as a chemical engineer. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1943-46. He was a member of Pollard United Methodist Church and Tau Beta Pi, a national honorary engineering fraternity. He was a registered professional engineer in Louisiana and Texas. He was also a mason for over 50 years and a member of the Danville Masonic Lodge #101 in Kilgore.
Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 57 years, Janet Niles Morgan; brothers, Vernon and James L. Morgan; sisters, Bessie Mae Raibourn, Della Martin and Opal Bowers and granddaughter, Kimberly Riley.
He is survived by his five daughters, Sheryl Brister; Dana Fleming and husband, Larry; Nancy Lessner and husband, Henry; Beverly Wait and husband, Earl; and Judy Miller and husband, Richard. Grandchildren surviving are Jennifer Jennings and husband, Jason; Angela Webster and husband, Dennis; Christine Hoover and husband, Kyle; Sarah Johnson and husband, Travis; Mark Lessner and wife, Beth; David Lessner and wife, Lyndsey; Keith Wait and wife, Amber; Pamela Wait; Matthew Miller; and Meredith Lundin and husband, Eric. Great-grandchildren are Katherine, Thomas, Nathaniel, and Georgia Jennings; Riley Webster; Will, Reese, and Luke Hoover; Tyler, Cooper, and Claire Johnson; Rebekah and Joshua Lessner; and Ardyn Lessner. Also surviving are brother Buford Morgan and wife Mary and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Larry Fleming, Henry Lessner, Earl Wait, Richard Miller, Dr. Mark Lessner, Rev. David Lessner, Dr. Keith Wait, Matthew Miller, Jason Jennings, Dennis Webster, Rev. Kyle Hoover, Travis Johnson and Eric Lundin.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Lloyd James Funeral Home.
