Alexander Davis was born on April 23rd 1825. Died Mar 9, 1911; age 85 years, 10 months and 14 days. Mr. Davis was born in Franklin Co, Ohio (written in is Pennsylvania) and in the year 1834 he with his parents moved to Wayne Co., (Ohio written in) where he remained until he was 15 years of age. The family then moved to Indiana where at the age of 23 ( Feb. 10, 1848) he was married to Rachel Jane Tyler who departed this life Mar 12, 1901 after 53 years of wedded life. Mr and Mrs Davis were the parents of 10 children, 6 of whom survive them. JH (John Henry) Davis - Belleville, WE (William Ellsworth) Davis of Holliday, JP (James Pollack) Davis, Odin, Illinois, Mrs. WS (Willis Samull) Bowen (Terressa Clarabell Davis) of Alton, Mrs. SL (Stephen L.) Black of (Laura Alpharetta Davis) Lawrence, Kansas and OE (Otha Elmer) Davis half mile N of Scandia at whose home he died. At an early age he became a member of the United Presbyterian church with which he was affiliated until his death.
