KINGSPORT - Mabel Lucille (Tate) Cumbow, 79, of Preston Place where she had been a resident for the past three years, went to be with her Lord at 7 a. m. Friday (Feb. 7, 2003) at Indian Path Medical Center.

Lucille was born April 5, 1923 in Russell County, Va., and was the daughter of the late Henry and Nellie (Jesse) Tate. Lucille was married to the late John Hunter Cumbow who passed away Jan. 5, 1983, after 40 years of marriage.

She taught school in Russell County, worked in sales for J. Fred Johnson, Nettie Lee, Miller Department Stores, and Best Uniform Shop. She was dedicated to her work and the people she served. She was a member of the Bloomingdale Baptist Church, the church she loved and was strong in her faith.
