From the obituary of Samuel A. Smith: Samuel A. Smith was one of the highly respected citizens of upper end Perry County. He died at the home of his son, Jacob Smith, at Bull Run, Jackson Township, Monday night, November 28, 1921. He was 77 years, 9 months, and 2 days old. He was the son of Jacob and Sarah (Garlin) Smith, born and raised in Jackson Township. He was a farmer and a man of high character and bore the respect and good will of all who knew him. His wife, Catharine Kuhn, died 6 years before him. His surviving children: Jacob Smith of Jackson Township, Luther Smith in the West, Newton Smith and Ralph Smith of Jackson Township, Reynold A. Smith of Andersonburg, Carrie (Mrs. Laurence Robinson) of Jackson Township, and Minnie (Mrs. John Clouse) of Madison Township. A son, Samuel E. Smith, was killed by cars in Pittsburgh August 10, 1907. Another son and daughter preceeded him in death. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Kate Gutshall, of Harrisburg. Burial was in the Union Cemetery, Blain, PA.
