William Ross Roberts, age 70, of Florence, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005.
Visitation will be noon-1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005, at Spry Serenity Chapel, Florence. His graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens, with James Thigpen officiating. Military honors will follow, with military personnel serving as pallbearers.
Dad loved to tell stories of his adventures in the military, and of growing up "on the hill." He was a great storyteller. Dad's love for his family was wonderful; everybody was special in dad's eyes. He loved his granddaughters to very much. They would walk in the room, and his face would shine, no matter what kind of day he was having. We will miss him so so much. I know he is in Heaven and at peace.
He was a member of Three Forks Baptist Church, Waterloo. He loved the Lord first, family second and his country third.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jewel Townsend Roberts and Gladys Odell Redding; sister, Margaret Horton; brothers, Paul T. Roberts, Charles E. Roberts and Sam L. Roberts.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Jacqueline "Jackie" Roberts; son, Eric Roberts; daughter, Sharon Hills (Danny); sister, Janie Sullivan; three very special granddaughters, Kayla Hills, Sarah Roberts and Ashlee Roberts.
Spry Serenity Chapel, Florence, is directing. Published in Florence Times Daily on November 16, 2005
