Puffer, Meretta Ryer
Mrs. Meretta (Ryer) Puffer, wife of Harry L. Puffer, passed away at her home on Roses Brook, Wednesday evening, June 1, 1939, at 7:55. Death was due to heart disease and complications.
Funeral services will be held from the family residence, Saturday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. Charles P. Harder of Bloomville will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot in Locust Hill Cemetery here.
Mrs. Meretta Puffer was born July 12, 1864, on the Ryer homestead, Roses Brook, the daughter of George and Mary L. (Hait) Ryer. Her entire life with the exception of three years had been spent on the Ryer homestead.
January 23, 1889, she married Harry Puffer, also of Roses Brook.
Surviving are her husband, Harry L. Puffer; one son, Harold E.; two grandchildren, Ralph H. and Kay M. F. Puffer; two nephews, George E. Ryer, Kingston; and Clark A. Ryer, Scotia; two nieces, Nellie G. Ryer, Schenectady and Mrs. W. L. Slover, Scotia.
Mrs. Puffer, a member of the Methodist Church on Roses Brook and of the church society, was a woman of fine qualities and many friends. January 23, 1939, she and her husband celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Eighty guests called during the day with gifts and congratulations attesting their popularity in their community.
