Lewis Harmon Beckner, 78, of Wirtz, died Wednesday, November 9, 2005 in a Roanoke hospital. He was born in Forsyth County, N.C., March 25, 1927, a son of the late Clyde Samuel and Margaret Elizabeth (Maggie) Ronk Beckner. He came to Franklin County in 1962 where he operated a dairy farm in the Burnt Chimney Community. Mr. Beckner is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rachel Montgomery Beckner; sons and daughters-in-law, Byron Jay and Irene Beckner, Harmon Lee and Wanda Beckner; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl Kingery Bower and Ronald; grandchildren, Curtis Beckner and wife Marcie, Daryl Beckner, Sandra Beckner, Rita Beckner Miller and husband James, Joey Beckner, Andy Beckner, Tommy Bower and wife Susan, Crystal Bower and Deanna Bower; one great-grandchild Zayne Davis Beckner; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Hazel Beckner; sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and Vernon Jamison, Mary and David Bayer; sisters-in-law, Esther and Virgil Jamison, Lois and Joseph Denlinger; brother-in-law, Daniel and Annie Montgomery; in-laws, Velma Montgomery, Louise Klopenstein, Emma Montgomery, and Janie Montgomery. Funeral services will be conducted from Oak Hill Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
