Kansas Soldier Killed in Copter Crash in Vietnam

JUNCTION CITY, Kan. ­
CWO James M. Stever, 28, Junction City, died Tuesday in Vietnam of injuries suffered in an Army helicopter crash Saturday,the Department of Defense announced Wednesday.

The crash was in Bac Liv Province during a landing attempt. Stever had been in Vietnam since April. He was a helicopter pilot on his third tour of duty there, and had been scheduled to return home soon.

Survivors include his widow, Rosedale; two sons, Bradley James and, Brian Mitchell, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Thomas L. Anderson, Upper Lake, Calif.; six sisters, Mrs. Donald Foster, Adelanto, Calif., Mrs. Jeannie Randleas, Newhall, Calif., Mrs. Merlin Stringer, in California, Mrs. Lloyd Bolerjack, Williow Creak, Calif., and Mrs. William Van Houtin and Mrs. Charles Garber, both of Clearlake Oaks, Calif., and a half brother, Alan Anderson, Upper Lake.
