Corp. Bruzdzinski [Brisk] Suffocated in Fire In Missouri Hotel

Corp. Francis Bruzdzinski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bruzdzinski of 1131 West Belden Avenue, died Saturday night of suffocation in a hospital at Jefferson City, Mo., shortly after he was taken from a hotel which was partly destroyed by fire of undetermined origin.
Corporal Bruzdzinski. who was a former drum major of the Polish American Legion Post 14 Band, was a member of an infantry regiment stationed at Fort Leonard Wood.
According to word received by his mother, he had left the fort on a week-end pass. He joined the Army in October 1940.
There are no immediate survivors besides his parents. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Corp. Bruzdzinski Rites Held at St. Stephen's

Last rites for Corp. Francis Bruzdzinski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bruzdzinski of 1131 West Belden Avenue, who died Saturday, Feb. 20, in Jefferson City, Mo., shortly after he was taken to a hospital from a hotel fire, were conducted yesterday morning.
The funeral was held at 9 A.M. at the home, and at 9:30 in Saint Stephen's Church, where the Rev. Ferdinand Hattala celebrated a solemn high mass of requiem. Assisting were the Rev. Peter Koleczek as deacon, and the Rev. Francis Holocinski as subdeacon. The Rev. Bernard Janczewski of Rome was in the sanctuary.
Military services were conducted at Sacred Heart Cemetery by members of Post 14, Polish Legion of American Veterans, and by soldiers who formerly belonged to that organization.
The firing squad included: Pvt. Joseph Rogers, Pvt. Edward Burzynski, Corp. Paul Bielec and Sergt. Michael Czerniel, all in the Army and all former members of the post's drum and bugle corps, Joseph Soboleski and Walter Piela, Buglers were Edward Soboleski and Myron Pawlicki. Father Hattala read committal services. Bearers were Benjamin Zielinski, Alexander Blazak, Joseph Kuzawinski, Adolph Gladczuk, Adam [cannot make out] and Frank Nowicki.
