MARCELLUS - Geraldine A. Swartz, 86, of 10153 Dutch Settlement, Marcellus, MI, passed away Friday, June 17, 2011, at Three Rivers Health, Three Rivers, MI, following a one-week illness. She was born on November 30, 1924, in Flowerfield Township, St. Joseph County, the daughter of Ivan H. and Vera P. (Gearhart) Bent. On September 30, 1945, in Vicksburg, MI, she married Harold W. Swartz, who survives. She was a lifelong resident of the Marcellus area. She was a member of the Newberg Norton Bible Church and the Happy Hour Club. She was formerly employed for 29 years with J.C. Penny's in Three Rivers. Surviving besides her husband, Harold, are one daughter, Roberta (Charles) Wiggins of Skandia, MI; one son, Steven (Tracey) Swartz of Marcellus; six grandchildren and six great-grandsons; one brother, June I. (Nanette) Bent of Marcellus; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Ursch, and one sister, Regina Hering. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 21, 2011, in the Mater Funeral Home, Marcellus, with Pastor John W. Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Marcellus Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Monday in the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Newberg Norton Bible Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
