Harriet M. Yancey married John Williams on 14 March 1814 in Maury County, Tennessee. When John's father Jesse died on 17 November 1824, John and Harriet lived in the State Line House that Jesse had built after 1782 and the couple presumably farmed their inherited farmlands. John and Harriet Williams had four children: Elizabeth M. (7 February 1815- ?); Nancy Sanford (24 September 1816-23 July 1868); Jesse (28 January 1819-26 August 1853); and William Yancey (15 January 1821-17 September 1821).
When Harriet's husband John died suddenly with no will at 46 on 17 November 1824, Harriet and her family had to wait for John's estate to be settled as there were 68 claims against John from people who said he owed them money. In the end, Harriet received only $776 for her various expenses for the years 1825 to 1832.
After her children had grown, Harriet married Thomas Foster on 9 November 1843. However, by 1850 Thomas also had died and Harriet was living with her son Jesse and his wife in their State Line House. In 1856 Harriet moved to Livingston County, Missouri, with her daughter Nancy and her family. When the Civil War erupted, Harriet moved into her daughter's brother-in-law Bowers' home in Black Jack, Tennessee, to wait out the war. At war's end, Harriet again moved with her daughter Nancy's family back to Livingston County, Missouri, where they bought a house in the town of Spring Hill. On 18 July 1867, Harriet M. Foster passed away at 71 and was buried in the Wallace Cemetery near the town of Chula.
