James F. "Billy" Runnels, 70, former supervisor for Madison Furniture, died July 25, 2001 of heart failure at Miss. State Veteran's Home in Jackson.
He was a native of Magee but moved to Jackson 49 years ago. He was a Korean War Navy veteran and a former member of Sharon Methodist Church in Magee. Mr. Runnels was an avid fisherman.
Services were held at Rosemont Chapel in Jackson on July 27 with graveside services and interment at Sharon Cemetery in Magee.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Layton Runnels of Jackson; a sister, Betty Barr of Pearl; and his best friend, Donald Garner of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Rachel Runnels.
