HAW RIVER -- Mr. William Garland King Sr., 83, of 3109-B Wormranch Road died Wednesday, Nov. 1, at his home after a brief illness.

A native of Greensboro, he was the son of the late Albert & Alma Huffines King. He was a retired textile salesman and member of Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a charter member and twice president of the Graham Exchange Club, where he was Exchangeite of the Year in 1957. Mr. King was president of the Square and the Round Dance Federation. He was the first chairman of the Tar Heel Square Up, first chairman of the Callers Clinic and was a Hall of Fame Square Dance Caller. He was president of the Personnel Association of Alamance County and chairman of the Graham School Board.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday in McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham, by Rev. Ebern Allen and Rev. Phil Hardy. Burial will be in Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery in Greensboro. Visitation will be 7-9 PM today at the funeral home.

Surviving are wife, Mrs. Yvonne Dalrymple King; daughter, Mrs. Toby King Babelay of Asheville; 2 sons, William Garland King Jr. of Johnson City, TX and Jack N. King of Davidson; stepson, Randy L. Davis of Burlington; stepdaughter, Miss Cindy L. Davis of Swepsonville; 3 sisters, Mrs. Dorothy 'Dot' King Woody of Burlington and Mrs. Elizabeth 'Lib' King Wyrick and Mrs. Sue King Farrell of Graham; brother, Albert 'Al' King of Burlington; 3 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church Bldg. Fund, 2557 Brucewood Rd., Graham 27253.
