Richard Frame was the son of Elizabeth "Lizzy" Conwell and James A. Frame. His mother died when he was only 8 years old, and he and his siblings went back to Xenia, OH to live with their grandmother, Eliza Beatty Conwell. After his father remarried to Alice A. Hunter, the children moved back with their father and his second wife to Grundy, MO. At age 18, circa 1880, he served in the US Navy according to the census. By age 26, he was living in Jackson, Kansas City MO, working as a proof reader for "The Evening Argus". He is buried in Union Cemetery in the family plot of 5/51, with his mother and brother Hugh L. Frame. Cemetery card on file.
