James Buchanan

James Franklin Buchanan, 83, of Kosciusko, a retired county agent, died of cancer Monday, March 30 at Montfort Jones Memorial Hospital.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 1 at First Presbyterian Church with burial in Kosciusko City Cemetery. Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Buchanan, a Tallahatchie County native, was a 1932 graduate of Mississippi State University. He was elder emeritus at Kosciusko First Presbyterian Church where he had served as an officer for 50 years. He was named Attala County Outstanding Citizen in 1959, was a World II Army veteran and a member of the National Association of Retired Persons.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Harriet Buchanan Johnson of Tchula a brother, George Buchanan of Philipp; a sister, Anna Buchanan of Jackson; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Building Fund or French Camp Academy.
