Funeral of The Late J.B. Small Held Saturday.

The funeral of Jacob B. Small was held Saturday from the family home west of town. Rev. G. Alfred Brown of the Christian church, delivered the funeral sermon. Quite a large number of business men of the town attended the funeral. The Union State Bank, of which the deceased was a stockholder, was closed during the hour of the funeral.

Jacob B. Small was born in Shelby county, Illinois, July 15, 1860. He was married Feb. 14, 1885 to Ella M. Eversole and to this union eight children were born, two of them dying in infancy.

In 1899 the family moved to Colorado county, Texas, where they spent 13 years. Mr. Small was engaged in farming and merchandising. He was also interested in the Rock Island State Bank and served as director and president. In 1912 they moved to Nash, Oklahoma, where Mr. Small and his sons, W.J. and E.A. Small engaged in farming and also owned and operated a mercantile business known as the Nash Supply Company. In 1916 the family moved to Neodesha. They purchased the Squires farm southwest of town and two years later purchased the Matt Hudson farm west of town.

Mr. Small had been in poor health for some time and a few months ago was taken to Wichita and later to Kansas City for treatment. He died at Kansas City.

Besides his wife he leaves the following children, W.J., E.A., Elmer, Grace and Ora Small, all of Neodesha, and Mrs. Frank Wagar of Nash, Oklahoma. There are four brothers and three sisters living in Illinois.

The pall bearers were: B.H. Hill, J.G. Kimball, Lee Rowley, Matt Hudson, Ed Chick and J.R. Vandaveer.
