Mr. Wilkinson, age 80, of Charlotte, died March 21, 2005 at Beverly Health Care. A memorial service will be at 12:00 Thursday noon at First United Methodist Church with Doctor Ivan Peden and Doctor Larry Wilkinson officiating. (Visitors parking for the Memorial Service will be in Odell Parking Deck on West 9th Street.) Interment will be private at Forest Lawn West Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at McEwen Charlotte Chapel. Mr. Wilkinson was born April 26, 1924 in Charlotte, son of the late Burrell Hampton and Laura Willard Belk Wilkinson. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, member of the Adult Fellowship Sunday School Class, sang in the church choir five years, was a graduate of Bain High School in Mint Hill. Mr. Wilkinson was formerly employed by Hunter Dairy 36 years and retired as a Security Guard after 20 years from Dow-Jones Security.
Surviving are: wife of 51 years, Christine Wilkinson; children, Mark B. Wilkinson and wife, Robin of Charlotte and Jeanne Wilkinson of Stanley, NC; grandchildren, Nicole Campbell, Lauren Hockersmith, Kara Wilkinson, Justin Wilkinson, Dana Wilkinson, Crystal Freeman; great-grandchildren, Wesley Campbell, Jaylon Hockersmith and Christian Mercado.
