Karen Ann Lee, 66, of Grand Forks, ND died on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Karen Zeis was born on December 15, 1944 to parents Benedict and Eileen (Hell) Zeis. Raised on a farm in Wales, North Dakota, Karen enjoyed spending many hours hunting and fishing with family and friends. In 1963, Karen graduated from Wales High School, attended Aakers Business School after high school, and soon thereafter met and married Lavern Lee on September 25, 1965 in Crookston, Minnesota. From 1965 to 1985 they traveled around the world where Lavern honorably served in the Army and Karen devoted her life as a military wife. From 1984 to 1998, Karen managed the Army and Air Force Exchange Service until she retired in Omaha Nebraska.
Karen was a devoted mother to four throughout the years. Her never ending love, sacrifice and commitment as a mom and friend will be missed deeply by all.
Karen is survived by her children Tammie (Lance) Kilgore, Colorado Springs, CO, Donald (Bonnie) Lee, Mekinock, ND, Theresa Lee (Jack Teigen), Grand Forks, ND and Kathy (Kevin Blumhagen) Hankin, Emerado, ND; 7 Grandchildren: Alainna and Russel Kilgore, Kristina Lee, Kenneth Martinez, Kevin Lee, Calvin Hankin and Bradley Hankin; 2 great grandchildren: Brennen Lee and Peyton Martinez; Siblings: Richard (Linda), Fargo, ND, Dave (Debra), Langdon, ND, Mike (Cathy) Langdon, ND Susie (Gary) Ruhl, Fairmount,
ND, Patricia (Woodrow) Hannah, ND and Donna (Doug) Davidson, Jamestown, ND.
