J.R. Lindsey Passes Away Early Sunday

J.R. Lindsey, 70, father of Mrs. C.A. Morris, died unexpectedly Sunday morning at the Morris home where he has been living the past four months. A resident of Mountain View for 30 years, he was well known there and in Hobart. Final rites were held at the Mountain View Methodist church at 4:00 p.m. Monday and burial was made in the cemetery there. Rev. W.Y. Switzer, pastor of the Carnegie Methodist church, conducted the services and the Pitcher Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
John Robert Lindsey, was born April 21, 1871 at Ramer, Tenn. He came to Ellis county, Texas at the age of 21. He was united in marriage to Julina Boothe in July, 1893. To them six children were born. One child died at the age of five. Mrs. Lindsey, passed away January 8, 1917. Mr. Lindsey, brought his family to Mountain View in 1910 where he reared his children and educated them in the public school. In August, 1941 he came to Carnegie to make his home with his daughter. Other children surviving are: Mrs. F.F. Andrews, Anadarko; Mrs. C.A. Stubbs and Mrs Kathleen Richards, Amarillo, Texas; H.R. Lindsey, Houston, Texas. Also ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren and two brothers and three sisters who still live in the east. In early life he united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church of which he was a member at his death.
