May Louise Dutton Clark, 83, of Westborough, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at UMass Medical Center in Worcester. She was the loving wife of the late Erwin Lester Clark who passed away in 2009.

Born November 11, 1927 in Blandford, she was the daughter of Louis and Mary (Peebles) Dutton, and sister to Louis, Jr. and Wellington Dutton (deceased), and Theodore Dutton of Otis.

May grew up in Tolland and Great Barrington, where she graduated from Searles High School in 1945 and was a longtime resident of New Marlborough and Monterey. May's greatest joy was in her family, eagerly awaiting news and proudly sharing the experiences reported from each of her children to her friends and colleagues. May's love and dedication to family was displayed time and again, but never more so than her taking an entire in-law's family under her wing after a tragic loss left them without a mother.

She took a leave from work for several months to run both households simultaneously, mothering the young, shepherding the adolescents and providing a sturdy foundation for them to mourn, recover and pick themselves back up as a family.

After raising her children, she worked for John Ormsbee and Ormsbee Bus Company, driving the long high-school route from Monterey to Sheffield each weekday in tandem with Lena Pedersen in the late '70s through the early '90s. She enjoyed designing and decorating wedding cakes for family and friends.

May's service went beyond her family to her community. She was a parishioner of the Southfield Congregational Church, singing in the choir for several years. May was an active member of the Grange institution for over forty years traveling across the state and country representing Umpachene Grange #269 located in Hartsville, Massachusetts.

May enjoyed various administrative and leadership roles within Berkshire South Pomona #25, based out of the Stockbridge Grange hall. May and Erwin received the order of husbandry for twenty-five years of continuous service and fellowship from the national Grange. She was a lovely and loving lady who will be missed.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Clark and her husband Richard Miller of Shrewsbury, Matthew I. and his wife Kathryn Garrison Clark of Dunn, North Carolina, and Todd and his wife June Correia Clark of Hopkinton. She had six grandchildren, Lindsey Clark McLean, Keith Miller, Adrienne Clark, Eric Miller, Marisa Clark, and Cameron Clark, twenty-six nieces and nephews, and forty-eight grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington, followed by a family reception at the Town Hall in Tolland from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the nearby Tolland Center Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services.
