Mr Long was years ago a wall known citizen of Athens being the son of the late Dr H R J Long of this city and a nephew of the late Dr Crawford W Long, the discoverer of anesthesia.
His many friends in this city heard of his death with great sorrow and tender to the bereaved wife and sorrowing relatives their deep sympathies.
The remains of Mr Long were brought to Athens yesterday afternoon for burial and were met at the depot by quite a number of friends. A delegation of Masons escorted the remains from Elberton to Athens and the interment in Oconee cemetery was with Masonic honors.
Mr Long was a splendid gentleman possessed of the highest character and numbered his friends by his acquaintances.
