To Be Buried With
Full Military Rites

Funeral services for S/Sgt Walter Derdzenski, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Derdzenski of 514 S. Edwards ave., will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the home and at 9 a.m. in Transfiguration church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart cemetery where Post 14, Polish Legion of American Veterans, firing squad and auxiliary will conduct military rites. The auxiliary will serve as honor guards and members of the drum corps will
be active bearers.
Sgt. Derdzenski was Killed in action Dec. 22, 1943, in the Netherlands. He was graduated from Eastwood high school and enlisted in the air corps in November of 1942. He trained at Atlantic City, J. Kessler Field, Miss., and Fort Myers, Fla. before going overseas
in November of 1943. He was
an aerial gunner and engineer with
the Eighth Air Force at the time
of his death. Besides his parents,
surviving are a sister, Mrs. Edward
Wysokowski, and several aunts and
uncles.

Sgt. Derdzenski
Killed in Action

Staff Sgt. Walter Derdzenski previously listed as missing in action, was killed over Europe on Dec. 22, according to information from the German government relayed by the International Red Cross to his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Derdzenski, 514 South Edwards Avenue.
A graduate of Eastwood High School, he enlisted in the Army Air Force in November 1942, and went overseas a year later. Besides his parents he is survived by a sister, Miss Jennie Derdzinski, and several aunts and uncles.

Listed as one of 91 men on the Pulaski Park memorial in Syracuse, New York unveiled on May 30, 1949, "Dedicated to Those Americans of Polish Descent Who Died for God and Country, Roll of Honor, World War II, 1941 - 1945." His name is inscribed on the the east face of memorial, as "WALTER DERDZINSKI."
