PFC Dubiel's Body Is Due Tomorrow; Rites Scheduled

The body of PFC Leo M. Dubiel, 25, son of the late, Walter and Veronica Dubiel of 203 Pulaski st. will arrive in Syracuse tomorrow afternoon.
He was killed in action in Belgium on Sept. 11, 1942 [1]. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from Sacred Heart school and attended Porter junior high school. Prior to enlisting he was employed by Brown-Lipe-Chapin Co.
Enlisting on March 20, 1942, he trained at Fort Knox, Ky., Camp Pickett, Va., and Indiantown Gap, Pa. He was assigned to the 54th armored division [2] overseas and was awarded the purple heart. purple heart.
Surviving are two brothers, Joseph and Walter Dubiel, and one nephew.
Services will be held at 8.30 a. m. Wednesday at the John Giminski funeral home and at 9 a.m. in Sacred Heart church. Military services will be conducted by members of the Polish Legion of American Veterans, Post 14. Burial will be in Sacred Heart cemetery.

2-should read: "54th Armored FA Battalion, 3rd Armored Division..."
