Victor Lee Chandler, 82, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 5, 2011. His family and caregivers were at his side. Memorial service: 3 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at the Elks Lodge 2114 in Arlington, where Vic was a lifetime member. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Lung Cancer Society or UT Southwestern Medical School. Vic was born at home in Pikeville, N.Y., just outside Wellsville, N.Y., on Jan. 26, 1929, to Clara and Robert Chandler. He was the third of four children. He attended school in Wellsville and graduated from Wellsville High School in 1947. He went on to attend the University of New York at Alfred, taking engineering classes. On Sept. 23, 1950, Vic married Patricia Marie McDonald, in a Catholic ceremony held in Rochester, N.Y.; they remained married for nearly 61 years until his passing. They set up home in Wellsville, N.Y., with Vic working for the Air Preheater Co. In 1966, they moved to Arlington. They built a new home on the Canals of Lakewood in 1967. Over the years, he had served in various roles of the homeowner's association board. After working for over 45 years full time with ABB Air Preheater, three of those years as a vice president, he semi-retired and began consulting work for Preheater, in his area of erection, service and technical support. He always considered those he worked with and knew at Preheater, as part of his family. He was known around the neighborhood for his expertise in small engine repair and his meticulous yard. He was loved much and will be missed by many. Vic was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Clara Chandler, and brothers, Robert Jr. and Richard. Survivors: His wife, Patricia; daughter, Victoria Lauricella; grandsons, Nicholas and Ryan Morrow; son-in-law, Gene Lauricella; sister, Joan Quick; nephew, Gary Chandler; and nieces, Kim Kolacki and Carrie Blitz. He also leaves behind very special friends and neighbors.
