Bessie Lula Albee, daughter of William Cummings Albee and Clarissa Dean, was born September
5, 1885, at Marcellon, Columbia County, Wisconsin. She died in April 1964, aged about 79 years
and was buried in the family plot in Comstock Cemetery, Marcellon.

On Sep 9, 1914, Bessie was united in marriage to Gay Cuff in a ceremony performed by Samuel
Olson at Pardeevile, Columbia Counjty, Wisconsin.Gay was born in April 1881 in Marcellon, son
of Henry Cuff, born in England and Violet Cairns, born in Scotland. At the time of their marriage,
she was a 23 year old schoolteacher and he was 33 years of age and engaged in general labor.
Gay died in in 1943, aged about 62 years and was buried in the family plot in the Comstock Cemetery.
Their Cuff gravestone is sinscribed "Father Gay 1881 - 1943" and "Mother Bessie 1885 - 19." The
last two digits may have been added at a later date. Their children all born in Wisconsin, were:

Dean Stanton born 7 Apr 1917, d. July 1978
Donald William 26 July 1918, died 8 Dec 1922
Eleanor Irene 6 July 1920
Jean Ardis 18 Mar 1922

Dean Stanton Cuff and Donald William Cuff are both buried in the Comstock Cemetery.

In the 1900 US Census, Gay was 19 years of age and living in Marcellon, Wisconsin, with his
father Henry, age 57, born in England in January 1843; Mother Violet, age 55, born in Scotland in
December 1844; Kate, age 13, born in Wisconsin in June 1886; and Henry H., age 11, born in
Wisconsin in November 1888. His parents owned their farm free and clear; had been married
34 years, and wre the parents of 11 children of whom 2 were deceased.

Gay was not born when the 1880 US Census was taken. His brothers and sisters named in that
census, but not in the 1900 US Census, werer John C. Cuff, age 13; Mary V. Cuff, age 13; Harry
A. Cuff, age 9; William H. Cug=ff, age 7; and Benjamin Cuff, 5 years of age.

In the 1910 US Census,Gay Cuf was listed as a 29 year old farm laborer working on the farm of
his 37 yer old borther William H. Cuff in Marcellon, Wisconsin. Also living on the farm were his
sisters, Adelaide Cuff, age 26, and Catherine Cuff, a 23 year old schoolteacher in the District school.

In the 1920 US Census, Gay Cuff was listed as a 38 year old farmer who owned his farm with a
mortgage, living in Marcellon Township, Columbia County, Wisconsin, with his 34 year old wife
Bessie L. and their two children: 2 years and 8 months old Dean S. Cuff and 1 year and 5 months
old Donald S. Cuff.
