A Celebration of Life service for Shannon Elizabeth Powell, 46, of Tyler will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Green Acres Baptist church chapel with Dr. David Dykes and Rev. Curtis Crofton officiating. A graveside service will precede the celebration service at 9:00 AM at the Chandler Cemetery in Chandler. Services are under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

Shannon passed away on April 4, 2011, in Tyler after a brief illness with liver cancer.

She was born March 25, 1965, in Tyler to Ann and Jim Powell. She was a 1985 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School.

Shannon was a member of Green Acres Baptist church where she worked on Sundays at the Welcome Center. She worked 25 years for Brookshire Grocery Company at the company's bakery plant and in the records retention department.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dorothy and Theo Powell and Dicie Mae and Frank Walters.

She is survived by her parents, Ann and Jim Powell; her sister, Scharlanne Crozier, and her niece, Callie Crozier, all of Tyler. Shannon dearly loved all of her family members including her aunts and uncles: Kay and Butch Brumbelow, Sarah and Clyde Stewart, Carolyn and Larry Powell, and Edna and Bob Kinsey, who are both deceased.

Shannon was passionate about the Lord Jesus. She enjoyed attending church every Sunday, praying for friends, and reading her devotional book and Bible every night before retiring.

She greatly enjoyed watching television with her dog Mini, collecting and viewing DVDs, playing with her iPad, and especially traveling on numerous family vacations.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Yandell, Jeff Jones, Alton Cade, Kevin Burdette, Ken Warren, and Dennis Taylor.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
