John A. Yoder was born near Shanksville, Somerset County, Pennslyvania, on June 17, 1864, to Abner and Veronica Yoder. Two years later, the family moved to a farm near Sharon Center, Johnson County, Iowa. Survivors include his wife Nettie and three daughters, Marguerite, Ada Medora and Gertrude V.
