William Orville Neely was born August 31, 1923, in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, the son or Robert Harrison & Angeline Reeves Neely, & passed away at his home on February 12, 1969. At the time of death, he was 45 yrs, 5 months, 12 days old.Orville was in World War II. He answered his call for his country August 26, 1944, at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He took his boot training at Fort Meade, Maryland. He landed overseas in Ireland in 1944. Orville was wounded in 1945 at Rhineland in Central Europe & received the Purple Heart on March 19, 1945. He also had the Bronze Star Medal for Bravery, the good conduct Medal & many battle stars besides many other decorations. he was discharged at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas on June 19, 1946. On May 10, 1947, Orville was married to Mary Turner at Fort Scott, Kansas. To them two daughters were born, Ruth Neely & Mrs Janet Bennett of Stockton. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mary, the two daughters & son-in=law Ralph Bennett, a step-granddaughter, Jaynie Bennett, whom he loved as his own, one brother, Robert Nelson Neely of Dedrick, Missouri, a sister, Mrs. Edna Swaggerty of Stockton, also a number of brothers & sisters-in-law, cousins, & friends. Orville was a wonderful husband & father, To know him was to love him. the children all knew him as "Poncho." Orville has been an employee of the Stockton Cheese Plant for 17 years.At a revival meeting at the Missionary Baptist Church being held by Granville Budd, Orville gave his hand & asked for prayer although he never joined the church. he will be missed by everyone who knew him."Only One life, Twill soon be past, Only what's done, For God, will last." Services were held at the Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. Clyde Bough. the songs, "Never Grow Old," "Whispering Hope" & "Beautiful Isle," were sung by the choir of the church. Pallbearers were Calvin Johnson, Rudi Basecke, Floyd Pickett, Albert Griffin, Clayton Snow, & Earl Rothmam, employees of the Stockton Cheese Planet whom he worked with.
