Henry Brewster, Sr. moved to Orange County New York in 1747, with his soon to be father-in-law David Smith, where he built a log house at the base of Storm King Mountain (then called Butter Hill) in Cornwall Township.
Henry Brewster, Sr., married Mary Smith (daughter of David Smith) about 1750 at the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, New Windsor, Orange County, New York.
Henry Brewster, Sr. enlisted as a private soldier during 1777 in the company of his son, (then) Captain Henry Brewster,Jr., in the First Orange County Militia Regiment. His regimental officers were Colonel Jesse Woodhull, Lieutenant Colonel Elihu Marvin and Major Zachariah DuBois. Henry, and four of his sons: Major Henry Brewster, Jr., Sargeant Jesse Brewster, Captain John Brewster and Lieutenant James Brewster, fought for our freedom in the Continental Army during the American Revolution.
