Married 1st Orpha Julie McMurphy, Feb 16, 1845, Washington Co, IL. They had 3 children (Elizabeth, Caroline, Richard). Baby Richard died and perhaps mother and baby died in childbirth.

Richard was left with 2 little girls, age 4 & 3. He married 2nd Mary Rebecca Hewett, Feb 4, 1851, Washington Co, IL. They had 2 children: James, Richard.

He died in 1859, age 38, and Mary may have remarried to James M. Dyer (but can't find record on the IL State Marr. Index)
