David R. Johnson, age 70 of Shoals, passed away in Loogootee on January 12, 2017 at 6:35am. He was born in Martin County on March 24th, 1946 to Thomas and Eva Pearl (Emmons) Johnson.

He attended school in Shoals. He was a cook at the Golden Gables in Bedford for 30 years. He attended Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church. He enjoyed yard-sales, painting, gospel bluegrass music and spending time with his cat, Sam.

He is survived by two sons, Marty and Kevin Johnson of Bedford and two grandsons, Marty Johnson and David Barlow, a granddaughter, Tia Wheeler, two sisters, Ruth Taylor and Barbara Thomas both of Loogootee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David, a sister, Francis York and two brothers Charles Johnson and infant, George.

Funeral services will be held Monday January 16th, at 2:00pm with visitation from 11:00am until time of service. Rev John Simmons is officiating. Burial will be in the Clark Cemetery.
