Joseph Hannon Davis Sr.
(February 5, 1933 - June 12, 2011)
Long time resident, Joseph H. Davis has passed away on June 12th 2011 at Lompoc Valley Medical Center. Joe was born February 5th 1933 in Memphis. Tennessee and was raised in California. Retiring from the U.S. Air Force in 1971 as a nuclear weapons specialist.
Joe settled in the Lompoc Valley where he lived for 40 years and raised 7 children. He was preceded in death by his son Jerry Allen Davis (1993) and is survived by a sister, Marie Baldwin of New Mexico, a brother, Merwyn "Dave" Davis of Texas and his remaining children, Jo Ann Kennedy of Lompoc, Dennis D. Davis of Moreno Valley, California, Suzanne M. Victor of Texas, Joseph H. Davis Jr. of Lompoc, James M. Davis of La Crescenta, California, Timothy J. Davis of Thousand Oaks, California and Muriel C. Davis, mother of their children.
In addition, Joe is also survived by his 12 grand children, 10 great grand children and the many friends and family he has blessed along his journey through life.
Joe was an avid wood worker and master craftsman. He enjoyed model building, computers, and had a passion for learning, creating artistic wood workings and helping others. He was especially proud of his military career as a Veteran of the Korean War and his classified status related to Advances in nuclear weaponry and defense.
His attitude of "stubborn Tenacity" carried Joe through 11 months of chemotherapy and his greatest victory of all... To return to our maker and free his life of the pains and struggles. In his final thoughts, Joseph said he sure hopes they have baseball in heaven…
A memorial service will be held at Ocean Park on Sunday, June 19th 2011 near Surf Beach located on the outskirts of Lompoc City. The service will commence at approximately 10:00 am and will conclude at 11:00. All are welcome to the Life Celebration and farewell of Joseph.
