Elisha was the son of Nathaniel Brown and Anna Haynes. He married Content Leeds on 28 Nov 1754 in Groton. In his will he says, "it is my wish that the burying yard where my wife is buried be well --- and kept for a burying place for all my family and my children and their families and all our friends."

Elisha served his country during the Revolutionary War.
