Dr. H. Phillip Hook passed away June 10, 2011 with his family by his side. Phil was born June 24, 1932 in Corry, Pennsylvania to Rev. Earnest and Lillian Hook. Phil had no greater joy than to open the scriptures, talk about the Lord he loved and to teach people to know Him. He especially enjoyed teaching men's groups and loved the challenge of interpreting and understanding the Bible. Phil taught at Phildelphia Bible University, Wheaton College, Dallas Theological Seminary and LeTourneau University. He was instrumental in establishing the Pine Cove Conference Center and KVNE/KGLY radio stations. He was executive director of Pine Cove for 13 years and general manager of KVNE/KGLY for 17 years. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Shirley, his 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Jim Morris of Tyler, TX; Barbara and Doug Nelson of Kalispell, MT; Mary and Kevin McKee of Baton Rouge, LA; sons and daughters-in-law, Troy and Tiffany Crafton; Travis and Erin Crafton of Hallsville, TX. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Phil was a member of Mobberly Baptist Church and counted it joy to teach the Prime Time class. Pallbearers will be Brooks Alvestad, Chase Alvestad, Cody Bailey, Larry Deakins, Eric Ford and Brandon Merrill. Honorary Pallbearers are a special group of men he taught and met with once a week for over 35 years; Harold Beaird, Frank Budde, Dr. Jack Davidson, Allen Locklin, Judge Tommy Ramey and Dr. Pat Thomas. A memorial service will be at Mobberly Baptist Church 11 AM Wednesday, June 15, 2011 with Pastor Paul Powell and Paster Gregg Zachary officiating. Under direction of Rader Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM at Rosewood Park with Dr. Kevin McKee officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 PM.
