LORAIN MAN FATALLY HURT IN HOME FALL
Lorain - Bert Ellis Sr., 69, of 120 West 23rd St., died at 6 p.m. yesterday in St. Joseph HOspital, two hours and 20 minutes after he was admitted with head injuries suffered when he fell down 10 cellar steps at his home.
Police said Ellis' head struck the concrete floor.
He suffered a severe brain concussion and skull fracture in the fall, the hospital reported.
Born in Hungary, Mr. Ellis had lived in Lorain 45 years. He was formerly employed as a second ladleman in the open hearth department of the National Tube Co., retiring in 1954.
He was a member of St. Michael's Hungarian Greek Catholic Church and St. Geoge's Greek Catholic Hungarian Union.
Mr. Ellis' wife, Elizabeth, died September, 1952. Survivors are a son, Bert Jr., and a daughter, Mrs. James Hanna, both of Lorain; six grandchildren and a brother, Frank, Toledo.
Funeral services will be Friday at 9 a.m. in the Reidy-Scanlan Funeral Home followed by high mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Michael's Church. The Rev. Stephen Petrick will officiate. Burial will be Calvary Cemetery.
A parastas service will be held tomorrow, at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.
