On September 18, 1944 a wave of 108 bombers and 152 fighter planes flew a mission of mercy to drop desperately needed weapons and medical supplies to the Polish underground army, in Warsaw, Poland. This mission was known as "Mission 191". Lt. Forrest "Doc" Shaw was one of the co-pilots on a B-17 from the 568th Bomber squadron, 390th Bomber group H. The crew had named the plane "I'll Be Seeing You/Till We Meet Again".

The bomber was hit by German anti-aircraft during the drop. 7 of the crew members, including Lt. Shaw, lost their lives that day.

He left behind a wife and family.
