Born Dec. 28, 1921, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Charles Lee Champion Sr. and Lily Belle Shytles Champion. She was a homemaker and member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Alton and Charles Lee Champion, Jr.; and sisters, Eunice Moss and Ruby Champion.
She is survived by her husband, Claude T. Ledbetter of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty Jo and Hugh Williams of Shelby; a niece, Sylvia Meade; and nephews, Randy Champion and Steve Champion.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tim Trexler officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home from 6 to 7:30 and at other times at the home.
