Horace married Bertie Mozelle Harrison on 26 May 1929. From this marriage 4 children were born. Horace and Mozelle divorced and later Horace married Catherine Stirton Hood on 9 May 1968 in Austin, Travis Co., TX. Horace worked for the Austin Fire Dept. for 25 years and later for 12 years was Fire Marshall at UT in Austin. After retirement, was President of the Bastrop County Historical Society. He was an excellent photographer. He died at the Bastrop Memorial Hospital, Bastrop, Bastrop Co., TX. Memorial services held on Sunday , 9 Dec 1979, at Calvary Baptist Church, Bastrop, Bastrop Co., TX. He willed his body for scientific research. He had been battling cancer after heart surgery. Horace has a marker placed next to his parents followed by his two brothers - Robert Franklin and Charles Arthur Whitworth.
