William Lee Brockwell , 84, of Grace Street, Hopewell, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003 in the John Randolph Medical Center. He was born in Petersburg and had been a lifelong resident of this area.
Mr. Brockwell was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church for 35 years, occasionally wrote articles for The Progress-Index and The Hopewell News, and after 42 years, retired from A&P Stores as produce manager. He was the son of the late William H. and Frances Sykes Brockwell .
Mr. Brockwell is survived by his wife, Louise Pruden Brockwell of Hopewell; one son, Christopher A. Brockwell and his wife, Veronica, of Richmond; one daughter, Billie L. Brockwell , and one grandson, Kurt Lutz, both of Fredericksburg.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003 in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003 in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Matt Straw, assistant pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg .
