Plattsburgh Republican., March 24, 1900
March 22, 1900 – Alansing G. Stoughton, aged 78, died March 19. Brief services were held at his late home on the 20th and his remains were taken on the 3 p.m. train to Burlington, VT for interment. His wife, Mrs. Sarah Stoughton and his brother, Phillip of West Chazy survive him. He was a well ordered citizen, a veteran of the Civil War and a consistent member of Stannard Post, GAR, of Burlington, VT.
His eldest son and daughter, Mrs. Freeman, accompanied the remains.
